The Finished Product... Monday, September 18, 2006 |
Just had crit session today for our major project this sem! Its for a heritage lamp using leds. Crit was pretty okay for most i guess and quite a good showcase i think. And LEDs are damn blooodddyy expensive!!! Some even go over 200 plus bucks just on LEDs alone.
And for mine, i explored on the origami heritage for application in lighting.... Some pics to savour. Its a painstaking folding process... =)
The finished lamp in its full glory.. lighted with LEDs... Pretty nice i think.
Hmm, i didnt really like how the bottom of the lamp turned out in the end... or in the case when its hanging as a pendant lamp, the top side... Kinda like a top eh.
The bottom view or when looking up at the lamp...
The cross- section of it...
Looks kinda like a flower in this pic... Soft and fluffy...
The inner photo of the lamp... I think it looks as nice inside as well...
A look at how many of those i folded... before i fix them up...
Joining the individual sections... I had a extremely headache with joining the different sections that were originally supposed to be made using opnly a piece of paper, which would solve all these headache.
4 Days and 4 Nights...
Sleep is precious they say...
An alternative variation that can be made as well... Just a different orientation of the folded sections.
I had backache while working with these... Seriously lots of work.
Looks nice as an architecture of some sort or a sculpture too...

Looking back at the heritage lamp, i think its quite amazing how everything is done in almost 4 days, not counting some less useful stuffs like researching, drawings etc that we are rqd to show almost every week... From purchasing of materials to planning to construction to panels... =)
And if there's anything that shows during this project, it's that i have lots of patience and determination man. And i always pick the harder route i guess. Haha.

Lotsa WORK! Saturday, September 16, 2006 |
Working myself out seriously doing the heritage lamp. And i've got back ache now cos of super tedious drawing the crease patterns, scoring them, and of cos folding them. It better turn out good otherwise i'll be cursing myself. Haha... Time's ticking away to submission and i still got lots more to go... How to finish man. Sigh.
666 Sunday, September 10, 2006 |
Happened to logon and find that i have a devilish "666" viewerships so far. =)
Anyway, life's been busy and design/studio/projects are really sucking all my life out. Much more than 1st year. Sigh. So all my free time is spent with heritage lamps, sketching redundant cubes and bottles and such, pulling tendrils and analysing them (wth...), stuying coke cans etc. Life is certainly so interesting' nowadays!
Sometimes i wished i had better time management or even better more time... Esp since the deadline for our heritage lamp is looming so close i can smell it. Its on 18 Sep! Yet there are so many stuffs to tackle at the same time also.
Furthermore, bono has a fascination with BIG lamps! Its damn funny how he asks us how big our lamp is going to be when he saw our concept presentations. Cos he keeps asking and asking. LMAO. And it's becoming a common joke in the class. Ha.
But at least crit sessions are more helpful than last year's with some very sharp comments esp by christiane. Quite impressed seriously.
Ok back to more work...
